Smile
The next two weeks seemed to pass by in a blur. Jasper and I were both busy, and rarely seemed to have time to spend together. We tried to have breakfast together every day, but even that fell by the wayside as we spent more and more time working. We barely had time for a quick kiss in passing, sex was becoming a fond, but distant, memory.

My project at work was completed a week early. So, it was with an eager smile that I drove home to my love. His project ended three days ago so I knew he would be home, waiting for me.

Daze
There was a strange car in the driveway when I arrived home. Curious, I made my way inside. The quiet murmur of voices led me to the kitchen where I found Jasper standing with his back to me, his hand raised and resting on the cheek of a strikingly handsome brunette man. My heart lurched as I realized who it was. Garrett, Jasper’s former lover.

The two were standing in a very intimate embrace, arms around each other as they spoke in hushed tones. Jasper’s fingers softly stroking his jaw. I watched in a daze as Garrett leaned in and kissed Jasper.

Color
No, my Jasper wouldn’t do this. He wouldn’t, I know it.

Drawing a deep breath, I watched and waited to see what would happen. My Jasper didn’t disappoint. He pulled away and turned his head, holding Garrett still as he stepped back.

“No, Garrett, I won’t do this. I’m with Edward now, I love him.”

Garrett looked down, his cheeks flushed with color. “Damn it. I’m sorry J. I just...I just miss Riley so much and I wanted to feel something....anything....” His voice broke as he began crying.

Jasper stepped forward and gathered Garrett in his arms, speaking quietly in his ear.

Pale
From our conversations I knew that Riley was the man Garrett left Jasper for. According to Jasper it was love at first sight. He never begrudged Garrett or Riley their relationship. As he explained to me, he would never stand in the way of true love, and that’s what Garrett had found with Riley.

Seeing Garrett in this state, broken and pale, I could only imagine how he must be feeling. Knowing that if Jasper ever left me I’d be dead inside, and I would try to take comfort with those I cared about. With that in mind I turned to leave.

Soar
Jasper looked up as I moved, and his eyes caught mine in our reflection in the window. He smiled at me and mouthed, “Sorry”.

Smiling back, I pointed upstairs. He nodded and mouthed, “Thanks. Love you.”

My heart soared at this simple, silent, declaration. I mouthed the words back to him and made my way upstairs. An hour later I heard the front door shut, and a car leave. Jasper appeared in the doorway moments later.

He walked over and sat on the bed next to me. He leaned down and kissed me, his lips gentle as they covered mine.

Hold
“God, Edward....love you so much,” he murmured against my skin. His body shuddered against mine as he held me tight to his chest. “Please....please don’t ever leave me...” he whispered to me.

Leaning back, I gently took his jaw in my hand and forced him to raise his head. “Babe, I’m not leaving. Not now, not ever.”

He closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against mine, “You don’t understand the hold you have on me, Edward. I think I’d die if you ever left.”

“I feel the same way about you, Jasper. So I guess that means we’re stuck with each other,” I whispered against his lips.

“Forever, Edward?” he asked.

“Yes, babe, forever.”

“Good.”
